Black and Gold Invitational Information

  • Where do I park? Please park in the student lot south of NHS construction (see map) and walk up the back drive. Please save parking in the north parking lots for our visiting bands spectator parking.

  • Where do I go once I arrive? Check in at the volunteer table (outside gate 29 - band room) before and after your shift.

  • Can I watch the invitational before/after my shift? You will get an admission wristband after your shift. If your shift is late and you would like to watch bands before, please stop by the volunteer table.

  • Am I guaranteed to work where I signed up? We may need to move volunteers around to fill open spots that are most needed! Please be flexible and willing to accommodate!

  • What should I wear? Please wear show shirt, Marching Miller gear or Black & Gold! We will have volunteer buttons for all volunteers to wear!

  • How can I help beyond my required 3 hours? Please consider picking up an extra shift! This is a BIG fundraiser for our program and so rewarding to give students the chance to perform in our beautiful new stadium!

  • Am I fully dressed without a smile? No! Please be welcoming and gracious! These bands made the choice to come to Noblesville and support our program!!!

If you are sharing info with your friends/family - spectator info (ticketing, parking, maps, etc…) can be found on our website! https://www.noblesvilleband.org/blackgold

Water the Children!!!!

Please help your student remember water. There have been many students "borrowing" a water from the closet recently. They should be drinking water ALL DAY and refilling for practice on school practice days. A snack to eat after school is can also be helpful! EVERY SINGLE STUDENT IS IMPORTANT TO THE BAND! All are first string varsity players with no subs. We want everyone to be at their best for practice as we head into this exciting stretch of the season! We can help by making sure our students are rested, hydrated and all snacked up. It is time to SOAR!!

Volunteer Information...IMPORTANT!

We currently have volunteer needs for September practices, football games, tailgating, band meals, and raffle sales! Check out all the volunteer opportunities at www.noblesvilleband.org. Coming soon: Fishers Contest & October practices.

Volunteer Hours: Please email volunteers@noblesvilleband.org regarding total hours volunteered this season.

As a reminder, listed below is the volunteer commitment every family signed at the beginning of the season. It is available to have someone volunteer in your stead to meet this requirement if needed. Just have the student’s name listed on the SUG.

  • 15 volunteer hours total (per household)

    • 3 hours must be on Sept 23rd at our Black & Gold Marching Invitational.

    • If you have an unavoidable conflict (family wedding, medical reasons, etc..) on this day, please reach out to the volunteer coordinator no later than 30 days in advance for an alternative option.

*If you are unable or unwilling to fulfill these volunteer commitments in FULL, there will be an additional $300 fee for the season. This will be invoiced to you at the end of the season. This fee becomes part of the obligation to pay. You may opt-out of the volunteer requirement for the season by paying this fee in advance making a total of season fee of $1,200.

Packing Reminders for games/competitions (band/percussion only)

Students are responsible to bring the following (we may not have extras):

  • Black shorts

  • Black compression shirt

  • Black crew/knee socks (no skin showing)

  • Compression sleeves

  • Gloves

  • Marching shoes

  • Hair accessories as needed (see below)

  • Water jug

Hair Info: Hair must be smooth, off the collar, and able to fit into the shako (hat). It is a good idea to keep gel, hairspray, bobby pins and hairbands in a bag that comes to every competition/game.

The Marching Millers also have a student uniform crew that can help with any uniform questions. Gloves/socks/compression shirts can usually be purchased from Dawn Bailey the day of, if your student forgets theirs.

50/50 Raffle Information

Band Family, we have crossed that $30,000 line! We only have a couple of weeks, so please, promote the raffle and volunteer! We would love to see at least $50,000 in the pot! Let's do it for our Millers! Look for us at Four Finger on Sept. 29. We will also be present at the Black and Gold Invitational.

We still need volunteers, and many still need hours, so be sure to check the Sign-up Genius. Let's make these final weeks count!

Thank you for reading until the end! Let me know if there is any information you would like included in upcoming newsletters.
