About Jazz
The Noblesville Jazz Program has grown from 1 curricular class in 2011 to 5 high school curricular big bands, three middle school big bands, and an extra-curricular jazz combo program.
Each year, the NHS Jazz Bands attend BSU Dimensions in Jazz Festival, Pendleton Jazz Fest and the ISSMA Jazz Festival. The NHS Jazz Bands enjoy regular master classes from local and national jazz performers and educators, including the legendary vocalist, Everett Greene, of the Count Basie Orchestra. The top NHS Jazz Ensemble has qualified for three ISSMA Jazz State Finals since it began in 2016. The Jazz Bands have also performed in New York City, Chicago, and have partnered with OWL Studios to perform at the Jazz Kitchen and has been a featured performer at UIndy Jazz Week.
2020-2021 - The Noblesville High School Jazz 1 Ensemble placed Second at the National Jazz Festival in the Large School Live Division, and also qualified for Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington Festival, 1 of 15 Jazz Ensembles in the United States and Canada. NHS earned Outstanding Saxophone Section, Outstanding Trombone Section, and Outstanding Soloist Awards were given to Levi Rozek (trumpet) and Luke Nelson (trombone).
Our Director of Jazz Bands, Bethany Robinson, is a 2022 Grammy Music Educator of the year finalist.
