The Noblesville Jazz Program has grown from 1 curricular class in 2011 to 6 high school curricular big bands, three middle school big bands, and an extra-curricular jazz combo program. Each year, the NHS Jazz Bands attend Purdue Jazz Festival, Ball State University Dimensions in Jazz Festival, Pendleton Jazz Fest and the ISSMA Jazz Festival. The NHS Jazz Bands enjoy regular master classes from local and national jazz performers and educators, including the legendary vocalist, Everett Greene, of the Count Basie Orchestra.

The top NHS Jazz Ensemble regularly qualifies for ISSMA Jazz State Finals and was named the 2023 Honor Band for the State of Indiana at ISSMA State Finals. The Jazz Bands have also performed across the country and at legendary venues like the Jazz Kitchen, the Palladium, and love performing and inspiring young students at the middle school and elementary schools across the district.

In addition to being named the State Honor Band, NHS Jazz 1 Ensemble placed Second at the National Jazz Festival in the Large School Live Division 2022 & 2023, and also qualified for Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington Festival two times, 1 of 15 Jazz Ensembles in the United States and Canada. NHS earned Outstanding Saxophone Section, Outstanding Trombone Section, Outstanding Trumpet Section, among several outstanding soloist awards. 

The Director of Noblesville High School Jazz Bands, Bethany Robinson, is a 2022 Grammy Music Educator of the year finalist, YAMAHA Performing Artist, was named High School Music Educator of the Year by the Indiana Music Educators Association (2023), a Jazz Hero by the Jazz Journalists Association (2022), and travels the country and the globe working with other jazz ensembles and speaking at state, national, and international band conferences on how to develop culture in the jazz classroom.
